Dr. Zed Sketches

I'm cosplaying Dr. Zed from Borderlands 2 in a couple of months, and I'm trying to figure out how the hell I'm supposed to put his smock together. These are a few sketches I made trying to deconstruct the thing.

It's odd - every character I've ever cosplayed has been a doctor or from a Valve game, but never any doctors from Valve games.

  1. Hey, like the drawings, did you manage to create this? i'm hoping to go as Dr Zed to Comic Con in London in October, making the props but stuck on ideas for a good outfit, and was wondering if you could share photo's and design?

    1. Here's are some pics of the vest. http://imgur.com/a/Ra9f9

I don't really have a design/pattern for it - I'm to costume design what Dr. Zed is to medicine - what I did was take a loose-fitting t-shirt, cut off the sleeves, cut it down the middle, and traced it onto the vest fabric (extending the length to the knee and the front parts so they'd overlap). That fabric extends to underneath the red (what should've been dark grey) area on the right shoulder - it was just easier that way.

I did decide to make the strap separate, and attach it with heavy-duty velcro. The strap is just more of the vest fabric attached to an old belt I cut up and attached buckles to at the end. As you can see from the velcro placement, there are supposed to be 4 more buckles down the side. Couldn't find them, though.

After that, all you have to do is apply the gray bias tape and bloody it up. If you have any other questions about it, please let me know.
