Right around the time of Super Mario World, the skybound death machine that was Lakitu got even more sadistic, in that it had a ghost version as well as that one that teases you with a 1-up mushroom on a fishing pole. Who knew that not a year or two later, he'd become a total sellout who officiates kart races?

Speaking of which, why does Bowser not even acknowledge Lakitu in Super Mario 64? You think he'd be yelling "this guy's trying to grab my tail - put down that camera and throw some of those eggs at him to slow him down, will ya?"
