Kirby Takes Flight

If memory serves me correctly, this is the second drawing this week based on video game owls. Coo was my favorite of the animal helpers in Kirby's Dream Land 2, mostly because his theme song is so badass.

Yes, I draw feathers just like leaves. I blame Super Mario 3/Super Mario World.

In Soviet Russia, Games Play YOU!

A while back, I started a drawing of many of the Soviet video game characters hanging out in a bar, and I have recently finished it. There's Zangief, Heavy Weapons Guy, and Soda Popinski in the front, and Niko Bellic playing billiards with the Tetris L-Block in the back. Clicking the above image will open it up in giant wallpaper size, in case you're the kind of person who likes to decorate their computer with communist gaming propaganda.

New ImPokédex - Ledyba

Why are there male Ledybas?

Ray Guns Are The Future

About two years ago, I heard The Bird And The Bee perform the latter half of a song on the Tonight Show, and ever since they've been one of my favorite bands. Yesterday, they released their second album, Ray Guns Are Not Just The Future, so I thought it'd be a good time to make a relevant drawing with one of my favorite onomatopoeias. It's a great album, and it contains Polite Dance Song, which has one of the best music videos ever.

Candy Corn Goes Bad?!

I found some candy corn from Halloween, and now that it's all crunchy, was about to throw it out. Before doing that, I thought I'd get a picture of all the candy corn cats picked out of the "miscellaneous shapes" bin. The cool reflections almost make up for the fact that I took the picture with a cell phone and the backdrop is an envelope.

New Comic - Rejected Countdown Pages

Remember when Sega and MMV put up those alleged Mario and Zelda countdowns a few weeks ago, and then it just turned out to be for some random WiiWare and PSP game? Well, this week's comic shows a few of the other countdown pages that you and the Nintendo legal department might have missed. As usual, it's after the jump.

New ImPokédex - Hoothoot

When I was first drawing Minineko, people told me it looked like an owl. I guess things have finally come full-circle.

Those Bears Are Stone Cold!

So it's been what, 6 years since that lawsuit? If the World Wildlife Fund uses the acronym "WWF" in a commercial and asks for money to help polar bears, people won't make jokes about wrestling the poor critters, right?

...Right?

Blind Mario

This is another silly drawing exercise, in the vein of my one minute drawings. It's Mario, but I drew it with my eyes closed. I'm proud of the outcome, even if he doesn't have a neck, or any of his head below the nose.

The Snarl

I plugged a 360, Wii, PS2, and Dreamcast into my AV hub. The result is this horrid amalgamation of wires. I can't wait to plug in all of the controllers, and being over six feet away from this mess, all of the extension cords.

If all the wires don't kill me, the electric bill will...

New ImPokédex - Sentret

The wilderness of Kanto is filled with rats, but Johto's is filled with ferrets. Surely this is mentioned by the Johto tourism board.

Notoriously Big

Well, this one turned out better than the Al Bundy one, at least. One of my cats' nicknames is Biggie, but I think that was more of a Wendy's reference (she doesn't love it when I call her Big Poppa).

New ImPokédex - Totodile

Without a doubt, Wartortle has the best tail of any evolved starter Pokémon, but Croconaw's is pretty high up there too; it's like a board with a nail in it.

I Sell Shoes And Shoe Accessories

I tried to draw Al Bundy from Married With Children, but at first he looked like George W Bush, and now he looks more like Prince Charles.

It's Dot Com!

After an exciting evening of wrestling with DNS protocol, burntheinternet.blogspot.com is now simply burntheinternet.com!* It should redirect any and all bookmarks made, but if you have extra time during the day, you can adjust them accordingly. I hope this was the right choice, I could've spent that domain money on Wacom felt nibs; I had no idea how quickly they wear out.

*Omit the exclamation mark in the URL.**

**Omit the asterisk too.

Johnny Platform

In what is possibly my most obscure fanart to date, today's drawing is based on Johnny Platform's Biscuit Romp, one of the Xbox 360 community games. As the protagonist's name would imply, it's a 2d platformer full of cookies and robots. It's possibly the most deceptively awesome game I've ever played; the sound effects are as bad as the gameplay is solid. You'll laugh your ass off when you hear Johnny finish a level or push a block, but you'll also enjoy some clever block puzzles and some of the best consecutive enemy-hopping this side of Super Mario Bros 3. Certainly one of the best games you can buy for $2.50.

New ImPokédex - Cyndaquil

Help! Someone put that Snorlax out! Seriously, why do all of these professors insist on giving kids Pokémon that are covered in fire? There must be safer ones to begin with...

Burnip, I Choose You!

Like most people who've been Pokémon fans for the last decade, I'm of the opinion that the creatures get gradually worse each generation. At the rate they're going, this is going to be one of the 5th generation Pokémon. It's Burnip, a turnip with fire for a stem.

No, this will never be part of the ImPokédex.

Yoshis Getting High

This is the Yoshi drawing I alluded to yesterday, the one approved by 0 out of 7 dice. I'm draining the "lame jokes based on Koopa Troopa shell colors" pool here on Burn The Internet!

Triana Orpheus

Today's drawing is of Dr. Orpheus' daughter from The Venture Bros. On a side-note, I couldn't decide whether today's update was going to be this or another drawing that I did recently, so I let the AIM dice decide. This one was "2", and the other one is "1", which I'll probably post tomorrow...

The dice must really hate Yoshis.

New ImPokédex - Chikorita

...and so the Gold/Silver ImPokédex begins. Technically, I've been doing ones from every generation, but this way, I have an excuse to draw Impostor Professor Elm. I'll be starting at the best place, the beginning, with Chikorita.
For some reason, that Marge Simspon groaning sound pops up in my head whenever I see Impostor Chikorita.

Inphyy Prepares For Battle

When I won an Xbox 360, the first two games I bought for it were Ninety Nine Nights and Sneak King. If you told me that between a next-gen title by Tetsuya Mizuguchi and a game they gave out at Burger King, I would play the latter more often, I would have never believed you. I really wanted to like Ninety Nine Nights, but just couldn't do it. Maybe it was the ridiculously impractical armor (see picture) or the gameplay, which was pretty much "press the X button and move the analog stick in the direction of the densest swarm of enemies," but something told me this wasn't exactly the best the console had to offer.

Back In White

After an exciting day of wrestling with CSS syntax, BTI 3.0 is online. It's pretty much the same as 2.0, which was the same as 1.0, except once again it looks better. Maybe I should be iterating the tenths place instead...

Metroid Cereal

In case you didn't notice, today's drawing is pretty much an expression of my hate for most of the Metroid Prime 3 characters. I was playing it today and realized how much I don't like Samus interacting with humans. Samus, the female bounty hunter in a giant robot suit, is supposed to be the most normal thing in the Metroid series - they shouldn't have brought the bloody cast of Halo into it.

Also, f the other bounty hunters.

Spoiler Alert - Every Castlevania Game

For a series that borrows so much from Metroid, you'd think they would throw a timer on the screen and make you escape the castle before it blows up.

Kneading Cat

This is the smaller of my 2 cats, appropriately nicknamed "Little" - she's not really blue, but I didn't want to draw in greyscale today.

The Mayor

I wonder how much Tom Goes To The Mayor fanart there is out there. It can't be that much...

Drew Carey Is Excitement Personified

How has it gotten to the point that my favorite part of The Price Is Right is the Wilford Brimley commercial? On a side note, I was trying to draw a depressed Drew Carey, but it ended up looking more like a fat Henry Kissinger.

Arma Chiroptera

If you've been following my Twitter lately, you'd know that I got Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia a couple days ago. Shanoa, this game's long-haired feminine protagonist, collects glyphs that she draws on her back to get various powers, in lieu of actual weapons and spells. One of the glyphs that she can collect is named Arma Chiroptera, which gives "bat-like abilities." At first I was upset that it didn't let her fly á la Alucard and Soma, but throwing bats while dressed in a form-fitting blue suit isn't that bad either.

Roy Koopa

Roy Orbison DLC is coming out for Rock Band next week, so I decided to draw his spiked turtle counterpart, Roy Koopa. I don't think Orbison ever wore a purple swimmer's cap while singing.

One Minute DeVito

I'm not familiar with his entire body of work, but in everything I've seen Danny DeVito in (i.e. Batman Returns, Junior, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Twins), he either doesn't know who his parents are or doesn't know who the father of his kids is. Small guy's got some family issues...

ImPokédex Corruption

Ah, Cinnabar Island... home of one of the most badass gym leaders in Kanto, birthplace of the most insane Pokémon ever, and should you surf along the east coast, and all hell breaks loose. See what I mean?
I suddenly find my pockets full of rare candy... Anyway, this marks the official end of this portion of the Impostor Minineko Pokédex. I'll be taking a break for a couple weeks before I start on the Johto entries, maybe try to follow through with some true artistic expression, or at least get back in the Weekly Webcomic Wrapup.

Batman 2005

One of the first things I did this year was look back at some of my old drawings; I've been doing this "draw nonsense on a 500x500 canvas" thing for a while now. Back in 2005, I finally saw many of the older Batman movies, and I did a bunch of related drawings, including the bizarrely grinning Jack Nicholson to the left. Check them out after the jump.

Batman Returns was not only my favorite of the old Batman movie series, but also one of my favorite Christmas movies.
Batman can't kill people, but he can accidentally kill people. I never understood how he justified strapping a bomb to someone and tossing him down a sewer, though.
Batman's most epic battle was with dyslexia.
