Super Mario World's Bob-Goombas

I was playing Super Mario World today, and I remembered how fundamentally flawed the Goombas were in that game; they had no midsection, and when you stepped on them, they just stopped moving, waiting for you to kick them around like in Wario Land. Turns out, their movements are just like those of Bob-ombs before they explode, which got me thinking - there are no Goombas in Super Mario World! Those round brown things are just defective Bob-ombs that Bowser painted to resemble Goombas. Overall, that ruse went on a lot better than the one the Koopa Troopas tried to pull by wearing Mario masks after you beat Special World.

  1. It's more to do with a mis-/lack of translation. In Japan, Goombas are called Kuribo, and the round Goombas in Super Mario World are called Kuribon. In Japan, they're supposed to be a totally different species...

In addition, in Mario Party Advance you can see both Kuribo and Kuribon...
